Honorary BIW review of There is No Light in Darkness (Darkness#1) by Claire Contreras

Synopsis:

A past hidden in darkness. Her present cloaked in secrets. The future holds the only truth that cannot be escaped.

After the mysterious and violent death of her parents, Blake Brennan finds comfort with an unconventional family. As the dramatic loss of her parents continues to haunt her—and hinders her from reciprocating love that others give freely—Blake embarks on a harrowing journey in search for the truth.

Living in a constant state of fear and need for control, vivid nightmares reveal details that lead to perilous situations. The past begins to collide with the present, and Blake must decide if the truth is worth losing the ones she loves.

Can love conquer all as her past comes to light? Or will Blake realize that there is no light in darkness?

Book contains: Explicit language & sexual content.

Review:

Absolutely loved this book! I was hooked from page 1 ... Claire delivers a beautiful romance based on friendship and family ties. It's not the typical boy likes girl, girl likes gigolo bad boy that every other girl in the world wants and everyone conspires against them. Mind you, every girl DOES want a piece of Cole though.

The love and connection between Cole and Blake is known to both of them and they are both aware that they are meant to be together. From the moment you read their first interaction you know that they are soul mates and there is an unbreakable bond between them. I think that what makes this bond stronger than any other couple is that they are not only in love with each other, but they are best friends and protect each other like family. They would do anything and risk anything for each other.

One of my favorite things about this book is the relationship with Aubry, Greg, and Becky both from Cole's and Blake's POV. It's good friendship and family love that you don't always see among real families but you see it with them, brought together by all their different family tragedies and less than fortunate pasts.

This novel is full of mystery and unexpected twists that take you down a path that you don't expect to go when you first start reading but yet they add in to that sweet adrenaline rush that only happens when you can feel what the characters are feeling. And of course leading to the inevitable, often hated cliffhanger, that leaves you wanting more... lucky for anyone reading There is no Light in Darkness now, Darkness before Dawn is already out!

This book had just the right amount of laughs and tears, love and passion, betrayal and mystery .... a true page turner!
