Book review of Full Measures by Rebecca Yarros

19383432

Three knocks can change everything…

"She knew. That’s why Mom hadn’t opened the door. She knew he was dead."

Twenty years as an army brat and Ember Howard knew, too. The soldiers at the door meant her dad was never coming home. What she didn’t know was how she would find the strength to singlehandedly care for her crumbling family when her mom falls apart.

Then Josh Walker enters her life. Hockey star, her new next-door neighbor, and not to mention the most delicious hands that insist on saving her over and over again. He has a way of erasing the pain with a single look, a single touch. As much as she wants to turn off her feelings and endure the heartache on her own, she can’t deny their intense attraction.

Until Josh’s secret shatters their world. And Ember must decide if he’s worth the risk that comes with loving a man who could strip her bare.

I loved this book!!! Based on the synopsis I knew I would enjoy it but I honestly wasn't expecting to react to it the way I did. Congrats to Rebecca Yarros for a beautiful debut novel!

Within the first few chapters after starting this book I was ugly crying. Something more or less like this:

It came out of freaking nowhere and I knew I was in for quite the amazing ride. What a touching story about loss and love and survival. There were a few times when I thought it was a little predictable and that it played like a Lifetime movie in my head, but I feel like that's a give in with this genre. And to be honest, it worked! I couldn't put this book down for more than a few minutes at a time.

THE CHARACTERS WERE LOVELY! I connected to these characters immediately and they are still very fresh in my mind. Rebecca did one hell of a job making these characters real to me.

The ending of this book was beautiful. I was so happy for the main characters and the way they grew. My only complain is that I wish we got more at the end but I guess that's me being selfish LOL.

I'm looking forward to more from Rebecca Yarros- you have a fan in this corner!
