Book review of A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark #2) by Kresley Cole

A mythic warrior who'll stop at nothing to possess her...

After enduring years of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he's waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one. This Emmaline is a small, ethereal half Valkyrie/half vampire, who somehow begins to soothe the fury burning within him.

A vampire captured by her wildest fantasy...

Sheltered Emmaline Troy finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents—until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her fear of the Lykae—and their notorious dark desires—ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.

An all-consuming desire...

Yet when an ancient evil from her past resurfaces, will their desire deepen into a love that can bring a proud warrior to his knees and turn a gentle beauty into the fighter she was born to be?

What can I say?  I am a stickler for kick-ass heroines (especially blondes, don’t hate...)

and kick-ass men who have a soft spot for them.  If you are too, then read this book. Seriously, if you stop reading my review in order to read this book, I will not hold it against you.

Still not convinced?  Fine, I will make this quick then, because Kresley’s (Yes, we are on a first name basis) writing is so far superior to mine.

Like all of her writing, “Hunger” keeps us riveted to a problematic romance between two paranormal creatures of the Lore…Don’t know what the Lore is yet?  That’s because you didn't start reading before!!!

These colorful creatures are as entertaining as they are varied. Kresley builds the sexual tension until you’re panty droppin and raisin tail; all, the while developing a story of true-love that is peppered with plenty of sass, sarcasm, and wit.

One of my favorite aspects of The Immortals After Dark series is the interwoven stories. Kresley spends a painstaking amount of time giving us glimpses of each character in her books, and intertwining both the stories and the time lines.  The end result is feeling as though you are truly participating in the world of her series in each book.

" Hunger " follows the dark, tortured by vampires , and massively sexy KING of the Lykae

and the timid and Emma , the gentle half Valkyrie-half-vampire (can you guess the problem??).
We follow Lachlain’s struggle to overcome his pride and hatred of Emma’s vampire half, while Emma struggles to embrace it, and all of her badassery…. Trust me, she is half Valkyrie and half Vampire…You don’t have to know the ring cycle to know that Valkyries are baddass bitches

Just go read it.  You’re Welcome.
