Book review of Better When He's Bad (Welcome to the Point #1) by Jay Crownover

Welcome to the Point

There’s a difference between a bad boy and a boy who’s bad . . . meet Shane Baxter.

Sexy, dark, and dangerous, Bax isn’t just from the wrong side of the tracks, he is the wrong side of the tracks. A criminal, a thug, and a brawler, he’s the master of bad choices, until one such choice landed him in prison for five years. Now Bax is out and looking for answers, and he doesn’t care what he has to do or who he has to hurt to get them. But there’s a new player in the game, and she’s much too innocent, much too soft…and standing directly in his way.

Dovie Pryce knows all about living a hard life and the tough choices that come with it. She’s always tried to be good, tried to help others, and tried not to let the darkness pull her down. But the streets are fighting back, things have gone from bad to worse, and the only person who can help her is the scariest, sexiest, most complicated ex-con The Point has ever produced.

Bax terrifies her, but it doesn’t take Dovie long to realize that some boys are just better when they’re bad.

WOW. I. Devoured. This. Book!

I have to start off by saying that this book reminded me somewhat of a Kristen Ashley book. It was fast paced and action packed with an amazingly sweet love story tied into it.  What's not to love?!

Crownover really impressed me with this one! I was hooked from beginning to end. Somehow she brought in the aspects I usually love to read from adult contemporary romances (action, drama, suspense) and balled it up nice and tight in a new adult package.

The story follows Bax, a bad boy to the core with a difficult upbringing. Usually this is followed up by an allegedly stuck up girl from the the other side of the tracks. Not in this case. Then we have Dovie, who grew up in a similar life style as Bax, yet lives an honest life and wants nothing more than to go back and help the community she grew in.

Dovie opens up Bax's eyes to a lot of things. I don't want to spoil anything but I do want to tell you I loved this book! I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

I highly recommend it to anyone that loves New Adult but is looking for something a bit different, also to Kristen Ashley fans!

“You don’t need anyone to show you how to be good, you’re so much better when you’re bad.”

“She was upset about something and all I wanted to do was get her naked and play connect the dots.”
